The Chrysler Company was first established by
Walter P. Chrysler in 1925. In 2009, Chrysler Group LLC. was formed. There are
five things that all Chrysler's employees have in common: Innovation,
leadership, passion, cooperation, and responsibility. With these five aspects
in mind, Chrysler's more than 50,000 employees can embrace change and flourish
in their competitive surroundings which include over 120 countries.
It is amazing how successful Chrysler is in
such a fast–paced industry. The main reason Chrysler is a multimillion dollars company is because of how diverse their team is. Diversity is a key aspect of
Chrysler’s organization. Chrysler’s diversity programs have a very wider range.
It not only emphasizes on employee’s diversity, but also includes diversity of
suppliers, dealers, sales and marketing. Chrysler aims to create a diversity
workforce. The company constantly recruits talented minorities and provides
unprejudiced working environment to attract talented minorities. In 1983, a
program name Chrysler Minority Retail Dealer Development Program was
implemented. This program provides position opportunities like general managers
for minorities who lack financial ability to have their own leadership.
Furthermore, Chrysler has been praised by various organizations and magazines
for its efforts to achieve diverse workforce and supports of sponsoring
diversity events.
What also makes Chrysler stand out in the
car industry is their wellness program for its employees. The Chrysler-UAW
National Wellness program is an on-going and well-managed program, which has
been established for 28 years. Employees of Chrysler have various ways to
receive information about company’s wellness program and latest program
activities. Chrysler provides continuing help of teaching employees how to maintain
health and reduce healthy risks. According to David Anderson, the company also
has library for employees to look up for information about health. Furthermore,
Chrysler also collaborates with multiple health organizations to help employees
keep health and attain standards of workplace health. To encourage employees
participate in company’s wellness programs more and affirm the significant
achievement the wellness program has reached, Chrysler rewards and promotes
employees who are persistent and active engaged in wellness programs to improve
their health.
The excellent diversity program can help
Chrysler put the right people in the right position. With the development of
globalization, diversity workforce seems for suitable and competitive in the
modern society. Furthermore, Chrysler also has a comprehensive and systematic
wellness program. I think the emphasis on employee's health indicates
Chrysler's willingness to treat its employees nice and fairly. It is a good way
to develop and maintain loyal employees.
However, I detect a potential problem for chrysler. Chrysler is focused on being diverse. In addition, they have to constantly upgrade their wellness program in order to perfect it. It means that there would be a large amount of potential additional
costs to enhance and implement their diversity and wellness programs.I believe it would be more efficient for Chrysler if
they could develop an effective cost budget to maintain their program
implementation costs. By doing this, Chrysler will benefit and save
money in the long run.
