How to give an effective presentation

In today's class, my English professor showed us a few videos about how to give effective presentation. Honestly, this is a great help for me to improve my presentation skills. In addition, it also makes me want to share about what do I think would be useful to give effective presentations.

First of all, many speakers talk about simplify. Such as we should better not put too much content in one slide or give too many key points in one powerpoint slide. Aside from these, I think simplify also means you should use simple and clearly understandable words and phrase to explain the content you are going to present. Or else, people will be struggling with those complex and uncommon words and phrase, and then, they will miss the real content that you want to deliver to your audience.

Secondly, I think confidence is an essential part in giving an effective presentation. Eye contact can help you connect with your audience. Speaking with confidence eye contact is more convincing than speaking with erratic eye contact. If you always keep your head down and avoid eye contact with your audience, they will lose patience to listen to you soon.

Thirdly, I think every presentation should be fully prepared. From my own experience, I am confident only when I knew that I had put a lot of efforts in my presentation and was fully prepared. In addition, fully prepared presentation requires a lot of rehearsals. Lots of rehearsals can help you further understand and memorize your content.

In conclusion, I think the key factors to give effective presentations are using simple words in your oral speaking and being confident during you presentation. In addition, eye contact is really important in any presentation. Look directly at your audience with nice smile will make your audience feel comfortable and joyful.
